Days Have Been Slow

Last week I developed a horrible cough and had to visit the clinic. Turns out I had an upper-respiratory infection, but the doc didn’t think I needed antibiotics so I’ve been sticking it out on Nyquil and lots of water. I feel a lot better but I still have a pretty bad cough. Hopefully it will be gone soon because it has stayed way past its welcome! Other than that my life has been pretty darn boring. The most exciting thing I’ve done all week is buy a sprinkler for our front yard. We haven’t had a good rainfall here in a few months so the grass is dying It’s been a very dry summer, and to be honest when I moved up here I thought it would rain here a lot more than it did in Texas, but I’ve been proven otherwise lately. Hopefully it will grow back soon though. I’ve been pretty diligent with putting the sprinkler out to water it.

I’ve added a real footer to my site finally. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while and finally got around to it! And let’s not forget my Unconscious Mutterings for the week!

Long Time No Blog

It’s been over 3 months since I last blogged. Much has happened since then, with the biggest being my complete move to the great state of Washington. I now live in the city of Spokane which is a wonderful and beautiful city. I didn’t realize how much I hated living in huge city until I came here. Spokane is like a big city in a small town..with a population of around 205,000 people, yet all of the great entertainment and nightlife a big city would have. Back in Houston you could not go anywhere without sitting in traffic for 2 hours of your busy life, and on top of that there is a whopping 2.3 million people that live there, making it the 4th largest city in the United States. I absolutely love it here. There are parks all over the place. We actually live 2 houses down from one of them and I don’t think I have ever seen so many evergreen trees in one place. It’s amazing! There’s also a major park smack dab in the middle of downtown called Riverfront Park. Andy and I live about 5 minutes from there. It not only is a park, but is also a small amusement park. There’s an IMAX theater as well as other small attractions. All of it is situated right on Spokane Falls. The river looks awesome, especially when the water is high. Over all I absolutely love the area.

One of the drawbacks of me moving so early is the fact that I am basically living out of my two suitcases. My mother has slowly been sending me things. I received my computer, bedsheets and some more clothes just a few days ago. Surprisingly it only cost $13 to ship with FedEx. Since it’s so cheap I’ll definitely be asking her to send me some more stuff!

My brother is getting married on October 12th. The wedding is taking place in Fort Wayne, Indiana which means I have to take a plane for a weekend out there since I’m a bridesmaid. Thankfully I can take advantage of this opportunity and ride back with my grandparents to Texas so I can fly from there with 2 more suitcases filled to the brim with more of my fabulous junk! not only that, but I will have my cat Maximus with me as well I miss him so much!

Since I have my PC back, I definitely will be updating more often. I have the chance to finally update many of the pages on my site that have been broken for months. I can assure you I have a huge to-do list when it comes to my little abode on the net. As for now, I will just take it slowly and get things done little by little.

I’m still lurking around the net as usual, just not as often as I was before. I update my Twitter pretty religiously, but when it comes to making a full blog, I’m hopeless as of right now. I think the whole conformity of only have 140 characters to write about is rotting me from the inside out when it comes to having the creativity to make a decently long blog. Nonetheless, I do want to get back in to blogging, not just for the interwebs, but also for personal logging of my life. I like looking back through my blog entries and reading about stuff, and I’m sure I can relate to a lot of people on here in that idea. I hope everyone has enjoyed looking at this summery layout throughout summer and fall, but I definitely want to put something new up by Winter. That would be weird if I just left this up the rest of the year.

I’ve been to numerous interviews the past few weeks, and actually scored a job. I was hired at Bath & body Works. Unfortunately, they did not explain to me that I could constantly be a call-in. I was scheduled for 4 days out of the week and was told not to come each one. I asked them about it and that is when they actually explained it to me. Jerks. I dropped that job as quickly as I could, even though I was very excited to start working there. I had an interview at Barnes & Noble, and have tried numerous times to get back with the hiring manager, but she is always on vacation / busy / not in. I asked someone to leave a message from me for her to call me back but apparently she just doesn’t want to, or she didn’t receive the message in the first place. Either way, I’ve been calling back every day asking for her with no avail. hopefully today this will change. also, a store called Fashion Bug is very interested in hiring me. I haven’t heard anything back yet, but supposedly the manager is out until Friday, so hopefully then I will find something out. Andy already has two jobs. He works for UPS and Target. He never gets a job before me! I’ve always been the one to get work before him, but that’s changed. I really would like to go back to Starbucks, but of course, none of them are hiring. i think the one I used to work is hiring at the moment, but I refuse to go back there for numerous reasons. I guess I’ll just back to suck it up and go back if I can’t find any work, though.

As of late I have been MIA, at least from the internet that is. This summer has not been completely how I’ve wanted it to be. I haven’t really done much of anything this past month that I had planned on doing. I’ve been lazy and boring and I need to fix that! So, the first thing I’m going to do in this what I call my “Summer attitude turn-around plan thingy” is clean my messy room. Yes, I have definitely been letting myself and my living habits go. Maximus is literally begging me to clean his litter box so that’s on my to-do list for today as well. My car is pretty messy on the inside too, so I definitely have a lot on my plate for today. hence this is why my blog has been baren from my presence and will be for a little bit longer. OH, and I just realized that my comment form is now broken. Great! Just another thing I need to fix today!

I’m Back, I’m Back!

After a (much needed) break from the interwebs I am finally back. I have been so busy these past couple of months with school and trying to find a job and whatnot that I have had hardly any time to get online, so that meant no updates to my site. Now that I’m out of school for the summer and not working I’m going to try to live life to the fullest, and with that comes wanting to keep my website up to date. I’m going to try and at least blog once a week at the least. I know that’s not a huge commitment but I don’t really know what’s going to happen over the next few months and i might end up becoming busy again so there aren’t any promises! I do want to get back into the sync of blogging often though. Oh yeah, and now that I’m going to be home a lot now (hopefully) I’m going to have a little section created on my site for something special I’ll reveal what it is as soon as I get done with it! Hint: It has something to do with things that I love doing Not only have I been slacking off on my website but on The Q*Bee as well. I haven’t been doing any of my duties lately. Most importantly I need to catch up on trading patches. I don’t want to end up being warned for not trading these past couple months I promise I’ll start trading more often

Now, here comes the big news. In my last post back in March I mentioned wanting to buy a kitty to help me get over Tango’s death. Well, I finally was able to convince my mom to let me have one! He’s a 3 month old long hair black tabby. He’s so adorable! Andy and I named him Maximus, after the main character in the movie Gladiator. He is so much fun, except when he won’t settle down when I’m busy. He always wants to be in my or Andy’s lap, or running around with Baxter, one of my mom’s cats. I still need to get him his kitten shots. I haven’t been able to afford his shots he was supposed to get over the past couple of months, but now I have enough money to get him the basics and get him fixed as well. He is going to be such a beautiful kitty when he grows up He also does that weird chirping thing that a lot of kitties do. it’s so adorable!if you’re interested in what that is exactly, search for cat chirping on YouTube. You’ll love it! Recently Andy and I have constantly been on eBay. I’ve started selling stuff on there on my name Ambrosity. Right now I have 5 things listed that are ending today, so hopefully I’m going to make a decent profit off of them :). Andy has been buying stuff like crazy. He’s purchased lots of Gameboy Advance games to play on his Gamecube, mainly Mario games. They’re a lot of fun too so I’m glad he bought them. I purchased 24 nail art pens from Hong Kong for only $18 with shipping. That is such a great deal considering nail art pens are $6+ at Wal-Mart and most other places that sell beauty supplies. I have so much more stuff to sell on eBay though, much of what I can’t wait to get rid of either. It would be cool if I could make a business off of selling my stuff, but i’ll eventually run out of things to sell, so I don’t think that will be happening very soon. Oh, how does the new layout look? I figured since it’s practically Summer now, I would put up a nice summery look for my site. I drew everything myself I haven’t had the chance to test it in multiple resolutions other than 1440 x 900 and I’m also a little iffy on the CSS, so opinions will be greatly appreciated!

College, Hurricanes, and Drama

So, I’ve been gone for over a month now and had planned to come back to my online abode last week, but Hurricane Ike got in the way. Talk about a wicked storm. If any of you guys have been watching the news coverage on it, believe me watching it on tv is nothing like seeing it in person. Friday night my family and I “evacuated” to my grandmother’s house. She lives only 7 miles away from us by the way.The main point as to why we went there was because my family and I live in a trailer (not the dumpy trailer park kind- it’s a very nice quad trailer..bigger than most of my friends’ houses!) so we figured it’d be a lot safer to ride the storm out in a house. Big mistake. Let me list a lot of what went on. We had power until around 10pm when the winds really started picking up. I have never seen such high winds in my life. Transformers were popping all over the neighborhood making the sky flash bright green. A telephone pole caught on fire across the street and we had to call the fire department. Around 3 in the morning after a lot of trees had broken in the front yard making it completely inaccessable unless you drove a bulldozer through it..a huge tree limb falls on the roof and right onto the porch, casting a baby robin right through the front door. Luckily it lived but I think it’s foot and wing were broken. Where we were, we got the Western eyewall of the storm which is where the highest winds come from. It peaked at about 120 MPH, much greater than a supposed category 2 hurricane has. So for that reason, my grandmother’s house got hit a whole lot worse than my house. A telephone pole fell in my grandparent’s back yard ripping out the power box and completely damaging the back fence. I fell asleep around 7AM, an hour or so after the eye passed over us. I woke up extremely sweaty around 2PM. The power was out so there was no AC. I was so mad and frustrated. Andy and I went walking around the neighborhood to see what kind of damage took place. There were so many trees uprooted everywhere the neighborhood was inaccessible. I ended up getting stuck 3 foot in some mud and lost a shoe on the way. I spent 20 minutes trying to dig it out while one of the neighbors decided he was going to try and give me his stand-up comedy act. I never got my shoe. So it’s still 3 feet in the ground in front of some stranger’s house. Talk about a lot to deal with.We came back to my house Saturday evening and took the baby robin we brought with us out of the box and it was dead My mom thinks it died from internal injuries. On the other hand, we got power the next morning. Yay! Anyway, I’m waiting for Andy and my mother to come back from thr grocery store. A lot of the city still doesn’t have power yet so school has been canceled until Monday 9/22. Woopie! I’ve gotten a nice week and a half long vacation for all of this. So, I’m going to be busy with recovering from the storm and stuff so don’t expect many updates for a while. I apologize! I’ll try and blog every once in a while just so everyone knows I’m still alive and all

Hiatus Until Mid-September

That’s right, I’m going on a short term hiatus. This Wednesday I’m leaving for California! I’m so excited I can’t hardly wait. I’m in the process of packing and all, trying not to forget anything I’m going to need. When I get back I’ll be starting college classes so I want to take time to get used to my new schedule and all, yanno? So, until around mid-September I won’t be making any updates (except on myspace and flickr) I’ll still be on AIM and stuff so if you must contact me for some reason, you can IM me at ItsAmbrosity. New Job

I got a new job on Tuesday. I’m a sandwich artist at Subway I’ve worked the past three days and so far I’m liking it very much, except when there’s a huge surge of customers. I’ve worked 14 hours already on a 6 dollar an hour wage (Sucks, I know) so, so far I’ve made about 54 dollars, give or take a few for staying over my time tonight. Tomorrow is graduation! I’m so excited! It all starts at 7pm tomorrow evening but I have to be there around 6:15 to get prepared and stuff I guess. I’m so glad I’m finally done with high school..now it’s off to college!! I will be updating more over the next few days hopefully- since I have a job now there will be less updates but I will try to get more done than normal. Toodles!

I Got a Car!!

Yes! Finally! After waiting forever for my mom to finally trust me on the road, I got a car! Here’s a few pictures of it the dealership took:

I love it so much. It’s a 1999 Hyundai Accent GL with only 78,000 miles on it. I drove it all day basically and got to have fun with it. I bought some air fresheners and I’m looking for a steering wheel cover still. Hopefully I find one tomorrow! Speaking of tomorrow, I’m supposed to go to the mall with my friend Tori. But like always the weather controls what and when we’re going to do everything, so I’m praying that it doesn’t rain too hard tomorrow ( It’s an 80% chance O.o ) We’re going to try and go around 1pm though. I don’t know why I’m up so late right now either. I guess because I’m anxious about the rain coming! Meh..Well I’m going to try and sleep anyways.

I have loads of stuff to talk about! Boy, have I had a busy month There’s been so much stuff going on lately, and August is going to be even more busy now that I have plans basically the whole month right before school starts! The most major thing that’s happened in my life right now is I’ve started seeing my dad and step mom again. We stopped seeing each other due to personal reasons in the family for 5 years, and we’ve finally forgiven ourselves and each other for what we’ve done in the past and we’re back on a good relationship (so it seems at least!) I went over there yesterday with some laundry since our dryer has been broken (Which it’s fixed now, thank you Lord) and did a couple loads, spent time with my step mom which was fun, and she ended up leaving right when my dad came home, so it was just me, him and my sister. We talked for a while, then headed up to Subway and back to his house for my sister to play Guitar Hero. We talked more, he showed me pictures of his trips he’s taken over the past 5 years, including like 7 cruises, a trip to Orlando, Cozumel, etc. Then he asked me if I would like to go on a cruise with him in August. Of course I said yes!! It’s a 4 day cruise to Cozumel on the Carnival Ecstasy!! :D I’m so excited. The ship leaves on august 16th which is only 5 weeks from now. So, so far for August, I have this planned:

August 4th: Blue October Concert
August 9th: Leaving for Dallas
August 10th: Brother’s Gratuation at 10AM at UTD
August 12th: Coming back to Houston
August 16th: Leaving on the Ecstasy at 4PM
August 18th: COZUMEL! We might swim with dolphins!
August 20th: Returning home
August 27th: High School / College Classes starts

So, as you can see I’m definitely going to have a busy month throughout August. But I’m majorly excited about it all! This is probably the most awesome Summer I’m going to have in my lifetime. Plus think of all the cool shots I’m going to get in Cozumel with my new Canon! and on the ship! There’s so much to do. three pools, mini golf course, fine dining, massage rooms, saunas, and even more. I can hardly wait. I’ve obviously been slacking a lot with my website. I apologize. I’ve been super busy with birthdays, the dad thing, going places with my mom, etc to the point where I have almost no free time. Tonight I’m going to be doing a good thorough cleaning of my closet since it’s piled with about..hmm 4 feet of CRAP! ha and then I’ll actually have somewhere to hang my clothes up, yay! That’s all I’m able to update right now, I’m off to help my mom cook dinner! Oh and I’ll be returning comments soon hopefully, promise!
